World Sailing Great, Jon Sanders
After nearly seventy years at the helm, world sailing great, Jon Sanders is set to leave Perth on his tenth trip around the world. The yachtsman has broken 34 world records at sea but this trip could be the last.
Jon and Perie Banou II are soon to depart on their first leg of the record-breaking 10th circumnavigation of the globe. For those of you who would like to farewell Jon – there are two options.
Join us at the RPYC Fremantle Annexe on Saturday 15th October from 7:30am. Jon and his crew will be departing the Annexe at 8:30 sharp.
Why not take your boat out for the start of the 48th Geraldton Classic and the Dirk Hartog Ocean Classic and wish Jon well on his way. Boats will be assembling between North Mole and Hallbank Buoy.
The race starts at 9:30am.
Hope to see you there!
The boat signage has started being placed on Perie Banou II. A huge thank you to Rohan Lewis from Boatservices Australia for all his time and the provision of all the signage. We can’t wait to see her once he’s finished!! Keep an eye out for more photos over the next couple of days.
What a difference a few days makes … She’s starting to look like Perie Banou II we all know and love. A big thank you goes to Bay Marine Maintenance and International Paints for turning her back to her bright and sparkly signature blue 🙂
